What you're in for

Active Kite Sardinia runs kitesurfing lessons at La Caletta, on a quiet stretch of Sardinia’s northeastern coast that most visitors never quite make it to. Our school is based right on the beach at La Caletta, in the municipality of Siniscola, on the northeastern coast of Sardinia. The central-eastern coastline here is quieter than the more famous resort areas to the north, and that suits us fine.

At a glance:

  • AICS/CONI-affiliated kitesurfing school at La Caletta, Siniscola, Sardinia
  • Kitesurfing lessons for all levels: beginner to advanced, individual and semi-private, max 2 students per instructor
  • Discovery Course (90 min), Basic Course (6 hours over 2-3 days), Advanced Course, Coaching, and the week-long Windchaser itinerant experience
  • All equipment included: wetsuit, harness, and kite
  • Equipment: Naish kites, Prolimit gear
  • Wind: consistent thermal and seasonal winds on the northeast coast, two local spots for summer and shoulder season
  • Instructors teach in Italian, English, German, Spanish, and French
  • Windchaser package (max 6 people) includes accommodation, breakfast, transport to island-wide spots, and a traditional farmhouse dinner

About our spot at La Caletta

We run kitesurfing lessons from two local kite spots, both within La Caletta. One is our main summer spot, the other is where we prefer to be in spring and autumn when the conditions shift. Both are set up for safe learning: the water is shallow close to shore, the bottom is sandy, and the wind runs mostly along the beach rather than onshore. There’s room to spread out, which matters a lot when you’re still working out where your kite is going.

La Caletta is not a destination that draws crowds the way Porto Cervo or the Costa Smeralda do. That’s the point. The beach is quieter, the vibe is relaxed, and you can actually focus on learning without dodging jet skis or swimming tourists.

What’s the kitesurfing season in La Caletta?

The northeastern coast picks up wind throughout the warmer months, with summer being the most consistent period for lessons at our home spot. Spring and autumn bring different wind patterns that work well for more experienced riders. Our Windchaser (the week-long itinerant programme) runs in October and again in spring, precisely because Sardinia’s winds are reliable well outside the main summer rush.

If the wind drops at La Caletta, the island gives us options. Porto Pollo, Punta Trettu, and Porto Botte all work with different conditions. During the Windchaser, we use all of them.

What kitesurfing lessons do we offer?

Our Discovery Course is a 90-minute introduction: long enough to feel what a kite actually does, short enough to not overwhelm you. It’s the right first step if you’re not sure kitesurfing is for you yet.

The Basic Course is where most people start their proper journey. Six hours of lessons, spread across two to three days, in groups of one or two students. You’ll cover safety, kite control on the beach and in the water, body dragging, and your first water starts. Pace adapts to the person: we’ve taught complete beginners from teenagers to adults well past their prime kitesurfing age, and the structure works for all of them.

For riders with some time on the water, our Advanced Course covers jumps, technique refinement, and more precise kite control. One-on-one Coaching sessions are available for people who want to work on specific manoeuvres or push their riding in a particular direction.

The Downwind is a guided coastal ride for experienced kiters, travelling from beach to beach with the wind. It’s a good way to see more of the Sardinian coastline than most people manage.

The Windchaser is something different. It’s a week-long group programme, capped at six participants, built around following the wind across the island. Daily lessons at the best available spot, transport sorted, accommodation and breakfast included, and a traditional dinner at a local farmhouse on the final evening. Departures run in October and across spring. It suits all levels, including complete beginners, and it suits families too.

The crew

Alessandro and Steffi are the core of the school. Both are certified, both are multilingual, and between them they cover Italian, English, German, Spanish, and French. Beyond the language range, what comes through in every review is that they adapt to the person in front of them rather than running a fixed programme. Patient with beginners, direct with more experienced riders.

Our equipment

We provide Naish kites and Prolimit gear for all kitesurfing lessons. Wetsuit, harness, and kite are included. Students need to bring sunscreen and water. We sort the rest.
