Algarve Watersport — Kitesurf School Lagos We’ve been teaching kitesurfing in Lagos since 2006. Lessons run at the Ria de Alvor lagoon, a flat, shallow lagoon about 15 minutes from our camp — you can stand in the teaching area, which takes most of the fear out of the first few days. When tides and wind don’t line up at the lagoon, we run deep-water sessions at Meia Praia with boat support and radios. The wind here is the Nortada, a north thermal that usually fills in early afternoon and holds until evening. Season runs May to September, with June through August the most reliable at 15–25 knots. Mornings stay free — which is why our kite guests spend them at the wake park. That wake park day is the part other schools can’t copy. A cable water start is almost identical to a kite water start, so you learn the board without also fighting a kite. Split the complexity, then put it back together. We teach to IKO and VDWS standards. Group lessons run 3 hours with a maximum of 4 students per instructor; semi-private and private lessons run 2.5 hours with a kite each. Kite, bar, board, wetsuit, harness, helmet and impact vest are all included. The VDWS licence is included with our kite camp packages — it’s recognised worldwide for renting gear elsewhere. We’re the only multi-sport water sports school in Lagos: kitesurf, surf, wing foil, windsurf, wakeboard and SUP. If the wind doesn’t show, you’re not stuck on the beach — you surf, you SUP, you ride the cable. Semi-private means you share an instructor with one other student — but never a kite. You get your own the whole session, so you're on the water for the full 2.5 hours instead of taking turns. It's the format we recommend once you've got basic kite control and want real water time.

I had such an amazing time at this surfcamp! Everyone, the instructeurs and staff, is so kind and the food is amazing! The camp is amazing for beginners, Intermediates and advanced surfers. They really adjust their pointers and lessons on your level, which is awesome! I also did the surfskate lesson and ended up liking it so much that I did a second one. I noticed it really helped with the turns and movements on the water. Overal the best surfcamp ever!!!

We had an amazing experience! My 9-year-old son and I joined a semi-private surf lesson, and we both absolutely loved it. Everything was perfectly organized, the beach was beautiful, and the whole team was incredibly friendly and professional.
A very special thank you to Barni, our instructor. He was kind, patient, enthusiastic, and highly professional throughout the lesson. He encouraged us the whole time, explained everything clearly, and made sure we both had a great first surfing experience. It’s obvious that he genuinely loves teaching and sharing his passion for surfing.
If you’re thinking about surfing in the Algarve, this is the place to go. And if you’re lucky enough to get Barni as your instructor, you’re in excellent hands. If you’re Hungarian, definitely ask for him!

Attended as an external for 4 days, driving in with my own car each day — and it was absolutely worth it. I improved so much in such a short time, had an incredible amount of fun, and can’t wait to come back. Special shoutout to Lele, Noemi, and Emil — outstanding coaches who really pushed me and made the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at this surf camp! The surf instructors were fantastic, the yoga sessions were super relaxing, and the accommodation was beautiful and comfortable. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and the whole place had such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious every day. Perfect place to surf, relax, and enjoy life — highly recommended!
