At Wind Sports Center, we’ve built our Algarve operation around two fantastic locations – the Alvor lagoon and Meia Praia – which gives us real flexibility depending on wind direction and what you’re looking to learn. The lagoon’s our go-to spot for beginners, with those lovely flat conditions and sandbanks that create waist-deep water around mid-tide. It’s perfect when you’re finding your feet. For advanced sessions and foil kitesurfing, we use boats at high tide so everyone’s got plenty of space to progress safely.
We’re properly certified by IKO, VDWS, and ASI, which means our instructors are trained to international standards across kitesurfing, wingfoil, windsurfing, SUP, and surf. One thing we’re quite pleased with is our Bb Talkin communication system – students wear Bluetooth headsets integrated into their helmets, so you can actually hear what your instructor’s saying when you’re out on the water. Makes a real difference to how quickly people pick things up.
Our rental fleet is all Cabrinha gear – kites, twin-tips, and surfboards – and we refresh everything annually to keep the quality high. We’ve got rescue boats operating in all our authorised teaching areas, and our students wear bright lycra so the safety team can spot everyone easily. We’re registered with IPDJ and carry full civil liability and accident insurance, which is non-negotiable for us.
We’re open year-round, though our best season runs from early April through to late October. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to nail that next trick, we’ve got courses and coaching to match your level. We also offer storage if you’re travelling with your own kit and prefer to use familiar gear. Our team’s pretty patient – we’d rather you learn properly than rush through it.
