S-LOOP Kiteboarding School has been teaching kiteboarding lessons at Le Saline beach in Olbia since 2023. Our school sits right on the sand at Le Saline, on the north-east coast of Sardinia in Italy, a short drive from Olbia’s town centre and airport. The bay catches a thermal Sirocco that blows side-on across the beach, one of the more forgiving wind patterns you’ll find on this stretch of the Sardinian coast.

About our spot at Le Saline
Le Saline sits a few minutes outside Olbia, in the Gallura area of north-east Sardinia. It’s one of the more versatile kite spots on the island, open enough to handle several wind directions without turning the bay into a lottery. Sirocco and Grecale, the two winds we see most often, arrive side-on and give beginners a clean, predictable window to learn in. Mistral is a different animal: side-off and stronger, better suited to riders who already know how to get themselves back to the beach. That range is what lets S-Loop run kiteboarding lessons for first-timers and independent kitesurfers on the same stretch of sand.
Our kiteboarding season in Olbia
Wind at Le Saline is thermal and seasonal. Spring through autumn brings the most consistent Sirocco and Grecale days, and that’s when most of our lessons and courses run. From June to November we also put the boat in the water for lift and pick-up service, so kite and wing students can be dropped upwind and collected afterwards instead of fighting their way back along the shore.
Kiteboarding lessons we teach
We teach our lessons the same way most good schools do: step by step, and never faster than the wind and the student allow. You start on land with the kite and the bar, working out the wind window and how to control power before you’re anywhere near the water. Body drag comes next, letting the kite pull you through the water without a board so you learn to recover your position and gear. The water start is where it clicks, board underfoot, kite moving with intent, first real rides. After that we work on holding a line and riding upwind, the skill that actually gets you home. Instructors coach through a radio helmet the whole way, so corrections happen in real time rather than after the fact.
Lessons run as individual hourly sessions or as 6-, 8-, or 14-hour packages, with kite and wing groups kept to a maximum of 3 people. Riders working toward a career in the sport can take our CONI and MSP Italia recognised certification path.
We also teach wingfoil lessons at Le Saline, for first-timers and for kitesurfers, windsurfers or SUP paddlers looking to add a second discipline. The wing is handled on land first, then on a large stable board while you find your balance, then the foil comes into play with small pumps building into longer, quieter glides above the water. It tends to click faster than kitesurfing for many riders, mostly because there’s no bar or lines to manage.
The crew
Cristian Jesús Cancino Mondaca founded S-Loop. He’s a water sports instructor with more than 15 years behind him, and his approach to teaching goes past technique: he wants students to leave with the same respect for the sea and the wind that keeps him doing this. The rest of our instructor team backs that up on the water, coordinating boat support, safety and progression through every lesson.
Our equipment
We’re an official Duotone, ION and Fanatic partner school, and that’s the kit included in every lesson, private or group. The same gear is available to rent for riders who already know what they’re doing, and if something breaks mid-session, our workshop handles minor repairs on site and sends anything bigger to a specialist partner.
