Kitebelles runs kitesurfing lessons in Le Morne, Mauritius, one of the windiest corners of the island’s south-west coast. Our base sits right under Le Morne mountain, on the lagoon side of the peninsula in Rivière Noire. The south-east trade wind wraps around the mountain and blows across four separate spots inside the same bay, and that combination is a big part of why this stretch of coast built its reputation in the first place.

About our spot at Le Morne
Kitebelles sits at the foot of Le Morne mountain, on the south-west tip of Mauritius, in a bay that holds four distinct kitesurfing spots. The lagoon out front is flat and only waist-deep, which is what makes it the easiest place on the island to take a first lesson. Move further out and the water turns into Manawa, a rolling reef wave that gives newer riders their first taste of surf without punishing every mistake. Small Reef sits beside it, a gentler wave for anyone stepping up from flat water. Then there’s One Eye, one of the most recognised waves in kitesurfing anywhere, fast, hollow and firmly for experienced riders only. Four spots, one bay, a real spread of levels within a short walk of each other.
Our kitesurfing season in Le Morne
The wind here is the south-east trade. It wraps around Le Morne mountain before it reaches the lagoon, arriving side-onshore so a mistake blows you back toward the beach rather than out to sea. The best window runs from around April or May through October or November, with wind averaging 15 to 25 knots and June to August usually the strongest stretch. Outside that window the wind eases off but rarely disappears completely, and on the odd flat day there’s plenty else to do close by.
Kitesurfing lessons we teach
We start everyone from zero: a briefing on the spot, kite control on the sand, then the first drills out in the lagoon’s waist-deep water. Every lesson comes with a radio helmet, so your instructor can talk you through it while you’re actually on the water, plus rescue backup and all the gear. Private 1:1 lessons run €150 for two hours. Semi-private 2:1 lessons are €100 per person for two hours, a good option for couples or friends learning together. A 1.5-hour supervision session, with briefing, launch help and rescue oversight, costs €60.
For anyone ready to commit to more hours, we also offer three packages. Kickstart is 4 hours for €300 and takes you from kite control to your first waterstarts. Progression is 6 hours for €450 and gets you to a confident start with your first metres upwind. Mastery is 10 hours for €675, a saving of €75 on single-lesson rates, and covers upwind riding, turns and your first jumps. Pricing is fixed in euros with nothing hidden.

Kristina and Lenny lead the lessons at Kitebelles. Between the beach briefings, the water time and the radio coaching, you’re rarely far from one of them during a session.
Our equipment and shop
We kit every lesson out with new kites and boards, radio helmets and wetsuits, sized to your weight, level and the day’s wind. Riders who’ve bought gear from us mention Core kites, a Thrive control bar and a Force board among what’s on the racks. If you want your own kit rather than renting for a lesson, the Harlem & Juniqua shop sits right at our base on Royal Road in La Gaulette, stocked with kites, boards, wings, accessories and apparel, open daily.
No-wind days
The trade wind blows most days in season, but on the rare day it drops, there’s a hike up Le Morne mountain, surfing and island trips to fill the gap. Dolphin swims come up often too, run by local operators.
